What we're about

Been meaning to draw more? Or enjoy New York City more?
Do both - and meet great people too!
Come relax and learn with New York's largest drawing Meetup.

We welcome people who: have a love of art and nature - want to meet new people - want to learn from other artists - want to see parks and museums - want to start drawing, but classes are too expensive - draw all the time, or haven't drawn for years (or ever!)

What makes our Meetups different? We like to share our work, and talk, and admire art, and hang out. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment that is friendly, non-judgmental, and usually free! And all levels of artists are very welcome!

Upcoming events (4+)

Sketch Domino Park!

Grand Street & River Street

Let's sketch Domino Park! We'll meet at the north entrance to the park, at the corner of Grand Street and River Street, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at[masked].

Looking forward to sketching with you!

What makes our Meetups different from other art groups and classes? There's no instruction, but we like to share our work, and chat and be inspired. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment where all levels of artists are welcome! Don't be shy to ask anyone anything!

• We sketch for a bit, usually 45 minutes or so, and then get back together and share our drawings, and then sketch again, etc. There's usually time for 3 sketches.

• Please bring your own supplies - anything you like to work with - pens, pencil, watercolor, pastel, small sketchbook or large paper, iPad, whatever suits you.

• We hand out nametags so everyone can meet one another!

• We take photos to share on the site later. Take a bunch!

• Sorry, but please leave the dogs at home; they tend to step on the artwork. Thanks.

• This Meetup is FREE and everyone at all skill levels is welcome!

Sketch the tranquil Noguchi Museum!

The Noguchi Museum

Come join us for a trip to the Noguchi Museum - one of my favorite places to sketch. A surprisingly huge space with lots of fascinating art and architecture. The museum also has a really interesting mixture of indoor/outdoor spaces.

We'll meet in the lobby and each buy our ticket separately. It's only $12, or $6 for seniors and students.

The museum discourages pen or ink in the galleries, so it's best to sketch with pencil or charcoal (or ipad of course).

Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at[masked].

Looking forward to sketching with you!

Sketch each others' portraits in Central Park!

Central Park West & West 85th Street

Our portrait drawing meetups - in which we pose for each other and practice drawing people - are always popular events. For this one, let's combine the beauty of Central Park and draw at the forested Summit Rock.

We'll meet at the entrance to the park on Central Park West and W. 85th Street, and then walk in together. See you then!

Any problems on the day of the event, I can be reached at[masked].
