What we're about

An awesome place for fellow Arts and Culture lovers around our city to meet, attend and organize events, share ideas and interests!

Join us as we explore Toronto galleries, museums, fairs, and the best in international films, theatre, opera, food, dance, architecture/design, music and the avant-garde.

We will be active with many of the festivals and fairs that take place throughout the year.

Above all we want to create leading events where people can make new friends while enjoying common interests.

We ask that if you are joining us, you make Toronto Arts & Culture, one of your Top 3 Toronto Meetup groups. Some of our events are quite large, some are intimate. If we can't find you, pls try and find us as best you can. If we are not able to connect up, if you are new to our group..don't give up, try again, as we will do! After 3-5 times coming out, you will have made some new arts & culture friends.

If you need to change/update your RSVP, please do so in a timely and professional manner. When you join, try and get a picture posted and a bit of info about yourself...its helps in identification at events.

Some of our events are ticketed, some have service charges, but the majority are free.

We look forward to meeting you soon!

OTTAWA: Culture in the Capital

National Gallery of Canada

Hi All,

Can you join us in Ottawa?

We were lucky to get 4 Culture trips in during 2022!

As optimism builds for a better year (more comfortable) in 2023 then we had in 2022--we will continue to explore the culture scene in some of our favorite Cities. A deep dive/below the surface.

We bounce back and forth between Montreal & Ottawa.

This will be our 18th 'long weekend' trip since 2015. And our 5th visit to Ottawa (not the sleepy city you think it is)

Very important, PLEASE read all the information over before you RSVP.

You must contact me first. There is a non-refundable fee to join us.

This 2023 Ottawa trip will be built around--ART Bank tour, Canada Council exhibition, The National Gallery, and Ottawa Fringe Festival!

Plus our other usual favorite stops, and a Group dinner. All in 2 1/2 days.
We are on the go each day from 10am-9pm, and walk everywhere.

Ottawa is the least expensive of our trips--perhaps $1000-$1250 all in.

What else do we do? Some combo of:

-visit other private/public galleries
-architecture tour/talks/walks
-Indigenous exploration
-public outdoor art
-food/drink
-other things which we don't yet know about

Note: there is so much going on in Ottawa with regards to ART and CULTURE..don't think otherwise!

This is a 3-night trip.

How these trips work:

YOU look after your travel and accommodations (everyone has own personal budgets), I look after everything else. I plan ALL our activities on the ground while we are together. From first night drink (Thursday), to last nights group dinner (Saturday). You leave as you like on Sunday.

  1. 3 nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) We meet as a group on Thursday at 5pm.
  2. VIA train is currently showing $150-$220 round trip ticket. How will you get there, where will you stay? Drive, bus, train, fly?
  3. Will you drive your car? Use 'points' for accommodations? Airbnb, B&B, Hotel, other? Do you need any insurance? You should aim to stay within a 20 mins walk of downtown. We walk everywhere!
  4. There is a NON-refundable fee sent to me when you signup/RSVP--due within 3 days. I organize everything on the ground, discounts, tours, reservations etc. If you are coming with us on your first Meetup trip (fee is $150), if you have joined us before (fee is $125).
  5. We will start with 14-16 people..until we know more about group sizing. But no more than 18 people.
  6. Build into your trip budget: $100 for tickets/tours/entry, and $125 for our famous last night group dinner--we always find someplace special/memorable.
  7. And of course, with all our trips there are always special/vip type surprises.
  8. Agenda/schedule/Details in due course. You want to be in Ottawa by 5pm on Thursday June 22nd.

Please read everything over before signing up. We have a large group confirmed so far! I keep you in the loop as per our planning, with a final schedule sent to you a few weeks before.

Thank you for your interest.

Massey Hall: KANSAS (50th Anniversary Tour)

Massey Hall

We've been in and out of Massey Hall--perhaps 30 times. Original Hall, and most recently it's 'post-new' construction ( in November 2021 ).

We'll have a great time on this night. Dinner beforehand perhaps, and no doubt a beer or two before this concert. It won't be an inexpensive night. Tickets are $70 and way UP.

https://masseyhall.mhrth.com/tickets/kansas/

This concert will be of interest to some of you from a certain 'era'. Q107!

We don't typically attend the Budweiser Stage/Live Nation summer concert series. Seating is 15,000. At Massey Hall, seating is about 3,000.

With a legendary career spanning five decades, KANSAS has firmly established itself as one of America’s iconic classic rock bands. This "garage band" from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner, and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Carry on Wayward Son:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5ZJui3aPoQ

Composing a catalogue that includes sixteen studio albums and five live albums, KANSAS has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of KANSAS), one platinum live album (Two for the Show), one quadruple-Platinum single ‘Carry On Wayward Son,’ and another triple-Platinum single ‘Dust in the Wind.’ KANSAS appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the ‘70's and ‘80's and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and ‘Dust In the Wind’ has been played on the radio more than three million times!

This concert has just recently been announced, and will sell-out. Many great seats left/available.

Toronto Summer Music Festival: Ana Maria Fernandez

University of Toronto Faculty of Music

One of our favorite Toronto summer festivals!!

Can you join us for this concert--Grammy Award winner, Puerto Rico-born artist Ana María Martínez is considered one of the foremost sopranos of her time.

TSMMeetUp10

The code is good for our concerts, but also for some of the other performances. Excellent seats left at all price points ($20-$70)

Toronto Summer Music (TSM) is a Festival and an Academy that serves to enrich lives within our community through the shared appreciation of music.

Grammy Award winner, Puerto Rico-born artist Ana María Martínez is considered one of the foremost sopranos of her time. She enjoys a thriving international career that spans the world’s most important opera houses and concert halls. A winner of the fifteenth Annual Opera News Awards, her repertoire encompasses opera’s most intriguing heroines.

Martínez sings in a fiery recital of Spanish-language songs which she interprets with unsurpassed insight. She will be joined by acclaimed pianist Craig Terry in this mixed program recital that includes selections by such composers as de Falla, Rodrigo, Turina and Carlos Gardel, father of the tango. With hidden gems of the repertoire along with haunting melodies that you’re sure to recognize such as the most familiar of all Latin art songs, Manuel Ponce’s “Estrellita” (“The Little Star”), this is a night to remember.
