What we're about
This group is for females only who need a wingwoman, a friend, an afternoon bevvy or a girls night out.
All members are expected to be fully vaccinated, to practise good hygiene, and to adhere to Covid-19 safety guidelines at all events.
I am inviting sensible fun loving women 40+ to become part of a friendly group where we can simply meet and chat over a glass of sparkling, a mojito, a beer or a coffee.
Events will be held several times each month, and will include wine bars, restaurants, lunch/brunch, degustations, movie nights,High Tea, and perhaps some festivals-e.g.Jazz or Opera in the domain, a whale watching cruise, Vivid, Sculpture by the Sea,Night Noodle markets, Fund-raising events, maybe a Taco Night Tuesday/a cheese-wheel Wednesday.
Some events will be seasonal e.g. Rooftops bars, Open Air restaurants, a coastal walk, in Spring and Summer , and when the weather is cold and wet more events will be indoors.
And there may even be a few crazy events like flying trapeze school?an obstacle course? fast car driving?fancy dress?
The suggestion box is always open for ideas/recommendations.
Some events will be free, and some will be pay on RSVP to secure your spot.
There is a membership fee of $45 payable on/ after your 1st event, but before your 2nd event as collecting a gold coin at each event is not my cup of tea.
Renewals each year after are $35.
Membership runs from March to February each year as this makes it easier for me .
All funds go towards organiser subscription fees (meetup fees) which are currently $167 every 6 months, group booking fees at functions, credit card fees etc. Any surplus monies from membership fees is spent on our Christmas Party or Birthday Party in way of venue hire or food or bar tab etc. Once all outgoings have been paid I put all membership fees back into the group .
Please keep your rsvp's up to date. We do have a cancellation fee in place for most events.
3 no-shows will result in you being removed from the group.
Please ensure your photo is of yourself and not a cartoon character or image. Or if you need an image for privacy reasons pls contact me and we'll go from there.

Enjoy a lazy Sunday lunch with the girls at Brewdog-a sprawling $3.2 million brew pub in a converted locomotive workshop in the South Eveleigh precinct.
Part of the BrewDog experience is just looking around at the original workshop machinery collection-view pared back industrial design of steel bar tops, timber benches and exposed pipework and brick that pays respects to the site's history.
Dishing up the classic Pub mainstays like burgers and parmies, the hot spicy wings are a go-to for me, and I can also recommend the pizza.
Up to 50% of the menu is plant-based for the vegan and vegetarians.
They also have gluten free options, and a great drinks selection.

The cancellation fee is $20 per person if you cancel or no-show after I have given final numbers i.e. 48 hours prior to event. Which means any cancellations made after 1:00pm on 16 June will incur a $20 fee. I will ask you for it before your next event.

A friendly mid-year reminder.
Ladies please read this notification regarding our cancellation policy for 2023.
This is your official notification that any cancellations made within 48 hours of an event start time will incur a cancellation fee of $20pp per cancellation, noting that some venues actually charge $50pp per cancellation.
Cancellation Fees will always be stated in the event blurb if applicable. Please read all event notes thoroughly before you rsvp to an event.
Take particular care when you add yourself to a WAITLIST..Cancellation Fees still apply to waitlists and it is YOUR responsibility to monitor your rsvp on the waitlist NOT MINE.
Why?
- Sometimes venues charge fees
- Another Sparkling lady is declined a spot
- Early cancellation is preferred to a no-show
- The venue is expecting a certain number so they hold space for us
- The venue is expecting a certain amount of revenue from a booked large group.
- Last minute cancellations can be bothersome to me as a shift worker
I will re-post this at 6-monthly intervals as a general reminder

The only exception is if you are coughing or covid positive, depending on venue policy.
Overall I'm hoping this policy will reduce the inconvenience to me, and those on a waitlist, that last minute cancellations sustain.
